Submission to DFAT on the Australia-United States Free Trade Agreement

In harmonising the Australian and US copyright law through the AUSFTA the Australian government should ensure changes are of mutual advantage and that established user rights are not erroded.

A joint submission by the Australian Libraries Copyright Committee (ALCC) and the ADA to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in relation to the Australia–United States Free Trade Agreement. Our submission comments on proposed harmonisation of Australian and US copyright law, circumvention of  technical protection measures (TPMs), contracting out of exceptions, criminal acts, intermediary liability, notice-and-takedown schemes and the impact of competition law on copryright.

Please note that this submission is no longer available on the DFAT website.
