Today the disability access amendments to the Copyright Act come into force

Today is an exciting day for Australia’s copyright community – the majority of provisions in the Copyright Amendment (Disability Access and Other Measures) Act 2017 come into force, and with them the most significant changes to Australian copyright law in over a decade.

No value for Australia in ACTA’s final text

The finalised version of the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) was released today. Australia participated in the negotiation of ACTA, which is an international agreement that is the frontline of the United States’ copyright industry’s battle for draconian increases in copyright enforcement to address what it sees as the challenges of the internet.

Controversial IP treaty could threaten digital economy
